Co-op and Internship Testimonials
Dominic Maga,
Majoring in Electrical Engineering,
Sophomore, One Quarter in the Co-op Program at time of Testimonial.
Employed at Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Directed Energies Department, through the SOCHE internship program.
Responsibilities during co-op employment:
"During my co-op at AFIT, I had many job duties. I was in charge of
running a Scattemeter, a highly precise optical intensity measuring device. I was also in charge of programming data analysis for data that was collected on an Image Based system. I was also responsible for determining the next step in the Image Based Bi-Directional Reflectance Distribution Function (IB BRDF) experiment and developing new parts that will help this experiment go from a proof-of-concept to an actual accurate data capturing method. At the end of my co-op, I have been responsible for doing research into improving the optical system of the Scattermeter and the IB BRDF experiments."
Most beneficial aspect of being enrolled in the co-op program:
"The most beneficial aspect of my co-op was the hands on experience in a research lab environment. I had
an excellent opportunity to get my “hands dirty” in a potential option for future employment. I also got the opportunity to work in a job that was extremely challenging position, something my previous jobs have not
given me."
