Co-op and Internship Testimonials
Christopher Lockhart, Senior,
1 Quarter in the Co-op Program (at time of testimonial),
Majoring in Organizational Communication,
Employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, U. S. Air Force Marathon.
What duties did you perform during your co-op employment?
"Throughout the duration of the summer I have performed a plethora of duties mostly revolving around marketing schemes and logistical planning. I was responsible for determining where roads needed to be blocked, where signs needed to be placed, and what supplies were needed at the designated hydration stations. It was also my duty to distribute pamphlets and posters to sponsors and local businesses. There were times throughout this internship, where I would work with others in our office at local events to promote the marathon. Some of these events included: the Fairborn Block Party, Tattoo: A Freedom Call, Fairborn 5k, and the American Festival. Finally, when in the office, it was my responsibility to answer phone calls and to direct customers to the places they needed to go."
Most beneficial aspect of participating in the co-op program:
"There were so many beneficial aspects of this internship, that it is rather hard to pinpoint one specific area that had an impact on me. For the most part, I believe this internship has taught me how to work through difficult times with rather difficult people while continuing to maintain a high standard of professionalism. There were many times where people were plagued by stress because some things just did not seem to go right. Unfortunate times like these occurred often, but those in the marathon office always seemed to band together. I am forever indebted to those around me for the lessons they have taught me. Other things I have taken with me from this internship include: the ability to perform CPR, operate a forklift, multitask, and most importantly plan efficiently."
