Co-op and Internship Testimonials

As my internship with Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co. comes to an end, it is incredible to reflect on all of the different accounting aspects I have experienced in the past three months. This experience with CSH has given me the rare opportunity to get a taste of what to expect in different types of accounting careers. In addition to a valuable learning experience, every day I was surrounded by people who enjoyed their work and valued their clients. The most comforting aspect in regards to working at CSH is definitely the approachability factor. Whether I was working with fellow interns, managers, or shareholders, everyone was willing to take time out of their day to address my concerns and do whatever they could to fix them. I do not believe any other firm could have given me as much as I took away from my three months with Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co.

During my experience at Clark Schaefer Hackett, I have learned a lot through the help of everyone here. The people I worked with were very kind and patient with me as they taught me the basics. I felt as though I could ask anyone for help if I didn’t know how to do something. I did not feel I was treated as ‘just’ an intern or co-op student at any point in time. I was given work that had meaning. I didn’t scan papers all day nor did I do administration work all day like I have heard of other students doing. Before I started this co-op I feared that I would end up like other students at other companies and would regret taking the quarter off school to do this internship. I wanted to learn what it would be like to be an accountant during busy season, and that is what I learned this quarter. Overall, I am very glad I had the opportunity to be a part of Clark Schaefer Hackett during the busy season. It showed me what I was getting into by majoring in Accounting. I now know what it is like to get out in the real world and what it takes to be a tax accountant at a CPA firm

Overall I’m very pleased with my experience at CSH. The people were outstanding and extremely helpful and personable. No one ever thought twice about helping out when I had questions (which was often), and for that I’m very grateful. Without the support of everyone I never would have learned as much as I have. My favorite part of the internship was the personality and culture of the Dayton office. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to jump start my career in accounting. While I wanted to get all my work perfect the first time, I never felt pressured to do so, and my superiors approached making mistakes as part of the learning process, which I really appreciated. Thanks again for the opportunity to work here at CSH, it has been a wonderful experience.

My experience as an intern at CSH has been amazing. Looking back over the last three months, I have been able to see the amount of experience and knowledge that I have gained. I feel that the training and advice given to me by all the employees, has given me a stepping stone to start my career, and has helped me to determine which areas of accounting I would like to pursue. Working at CSH has not only been educational, it has been a lot of fun. The people that CSH employ are very easy to get along with and even more helpful. I learned early on that I could go to anyone in the office with a question and know that I would be led in the right direction. This real world experience allowed me to take what I have learned in the classroom and apply it to actual situations, being able to see the final product was very exciting. I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to be a CSH intern; as I know that it has only lead me further down the path toward my career goals.
