National Student Employment Week
April 11 through 17, 2010

Each year, the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declares a full week in April to be National Student Employment Week. Career Services at Wright State is a member of NSEA.  During National Student Employment Week, Career Services encourages campus employers to celebrate the contributions of their student workers.  Career Services also solicits campus wide nominations for Student Employee of the Year.

Departmental Celebrations

Colleges, departments, and individual offices honor their student employees in a variety of ways.  Career Services encourages employers to recognize the contributions of their student workers.

Student Employee of the Year

Part of the annual celebration is the selection of the Student Employee of the Year. Member colleges and universities select their campus Student Employee of the Year, who then has the opportunity to compete at the state, regional, and national levels.

The Student Employee of the Year is a student who, in their work role, exemplifies reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution.

How to Participate

Students

Students are part of National Student Employment Week when they participate in the campus student employment program.   In addition to earning money that helps pay for educational expenses, students reap the benefits of general skill development, mentoring and opportunities that can enhance their career, and résumé building experience to assist in their job search upon graduation.

Supervisors, Departments, Colleges, Divisions

Career Services encourages supervisors or groups to plan a celebration for student employees during National Student Employment Week.  Daily, individual recognitions, or one, large event, or a combination, are appropriate to honor students.

Supervisors are encouraged to nominate outstanding student employees for Student Employee of the Year.
